GNSS (GPS) – Geomatics
The use of mapping-grade global positioning system (GPS) receivers has improved data collection accuracy, precision, and efficiency. R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates, Inc. owns and operates Trimble GeoExplorer GeoXT and GeoXH handheld rugged field computers with integrated GPS receivers, capable of sub-meter accuracy, which are used routinely for all types of cultural resource applications. We develop in-house customized and specialized data dictionaries for accurate and efficient attribute data collection for a diverse array of projects, from archaeological survey to architectural survey of historic districts and viewsheds. Employing Trimble’s Pathfinder Office, we post-process and apply CORS-derived differential corrections to raw spatial data and convert the information to GIS-compatible data formats.
