Safety Training & Continuing Education

R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates, Inc. provides comprehensive health and safety training to all of our employees beginning on their first day with the company at our New Employee Orientation. Employees receive Good Health and Proper Safety Behavior Training. In addition, all of our employees are provided with specialized training and are required to maintain current certificates in the following skills:

  • American Red Cross (ARC) (or equivalent) Standard First Aid
  • ARC (or equivalent) Adult Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • ARC (or equivalent) Blood-borne Pathogens Awareness and Transmission Prevention

 

All of our drivers are required to receive training in safe driving practices, to pass examinations, and to receive certificates from Smith Systems in the following courses:

  • Smith System Five Keys to Safe Driving: Forward Motion
  • Smith System Five Keys to Safe Driving: Backing
  • Smith System Five Keys to Safe Driving: Foul Weather Driving

 

These lessons are the foundation of continued education for our field teams and instill the premise that safety is paramount. Specialized training is provided to field teams, field leaders, and project managers as appropriate in the following areas:

  • Desert Survival
  • Wilderness First Aid
  • Unexploded Ordnance
  • Hazardous Materials Site Worker (Pursuant to 29CFR 1910.120)
  • Hazardous Materials Site Worker Supervisor (Pursuant to 29CFR 1910.120)
  • Excavation and Trenching Safety (Pursuant to 29CFR1926.650)
  • OSHA 510: 30-hour Training for the Construction Industry
  • OSHA 511: 30-hour Training for General Industry

 

Through training, continuing education, and procedures, including daily tail-gate safety meetings, we maintain our focus on safety and health behaviors to be practiced everywhere and all the time.
